||For those looking for a relaxing stay in an attractive Lapland hotel, the Davvi hotel comes highly recommended. Occupying a privileged position on a quiet secluded hillside, the hotel is just on the Finnish side of the border with Sweden, within walking distance (approx. 1.5km) of the Swedish village of Karesuando. The hotel is well run by friendly, conscientious staff, who do their utmost to ensure that you enjoy your stay to the full. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious.
The hotel rooms are situated on two floors in a wing that extends from the main building. Rooms are simply furnished but comfortable. The double/twin rooms sleep two plus one additional person on an extra bed (usually a convertible chair). The family rooms sleep four or five, with one double bed or two single beds, a sofa-bed for up to two children (or one adult), and an extra chair bed or put up bed available for a third child. Please note that if these family rooms are utilised to their maximum occupancy, the rooms can be cramped and storage space will be minimal. All are en suite, though a few of the bathrooms are small.
The beautiful restaurant is the centrepiece of the hotel and affords spectacular panoramic views across the snow-covered hillside over to the attractive village on the Swedish side of the border. The design of the restaurant is inspired by the tent building traditions of the nomadic Lappish people with its roughly circular shape and ceiling beams each pointing towards a centre point.
